Micro-computed tomography

Lumbrineris latreilli, volume rendering of a) anterior region with maxillary apparatus superimposed as a surface model, dorsal view; b) virtually dissected jaw apparatus, ventral view with mandibles partly removed; c) same, dorsal view.

Sample preparation:
Animal was fixed in formalin and preserved in 70% Ethanol. For scanning it was removed from the preservation medium and placed into a polypropylene pipette tip. Remaining liquids were removed with paper tissue and the tip was sealed to prevent drying out.
