Micro-computed tomography

Lumbrineris latreilli, volume model of the jaw apparatus. Note the absence of MV as well as the accessory lamellae of MI, MIII and MIV which cannot be displayed in this low-resolution version. The interactive 3D-mode can be activated by clicking on the image, allowing to rotate, move and magnify the model, to isolate elements and to change the light settings. Use mouse buttons to rotate and zoom, CTRL+ left mouse button to translocate. Use the 3D toolbar for further interaction.

Possible incompatibilities: Interactive 3D models should theoretically be supported by most Acrobat products (Reader, Professional) from Version 8 onwards. However, on some operating systems or when viewed from within specific browsers (e.g. Chrome), incompatibilities might occur. In this case, please try to download the PDF and open it locally on your computer with an Acrobat product. If still you are unable to view the model, you can download it in various formats below and open it with a 3D viewer of your choice.

Sample preparation:

Animal was fixed in formalin and preserved in 70% Ethanol. For scanning it was removed from the preservation medium and placed into a polypropylene pipette tip. Remaining liquids were removed with paper tissue and the tip was sealed to prevent drying out.
